The diet of a mother before, during, and after pregnancy is crucial for the growth and development of the baby in the womb.
Studies suggest that what a mother eats during pregnancy can have an impact on the child’s early brain development. However, there is still much to learn about how maternal nutrition during pregnancy affects early childhood brain development, as well as cognitive and behavioural outcomes like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and externalising problems. These conditions are becoming more common among children and pose a growing burden on families and society.
Making simple changes to a mother’s diet and lifestyle before, during, and after pregnancy, may help prevent these complex and sometimes severe problems in children.
Are you pregnant and have a family history of ADHD, or a parent or caregiver of a child with neurodevelopmental and cognitive concerns, such as ADHD?
We would welcome you applying to join our community advisory focus group to share your thoughts and help us shape our research strategies to enhance our understanding on nutrition for pregnant and breastfeeding women and child brain development.
We will pay an honorarium of $50 per hour for meetings.
