Statement of Commitment to Climate Change & the Environment

The Kids Research Institute Australia's Statement of Commitment to Climate Change & the Environment

We acknowledge that, based on the available evidence, the planet is warming and that most of the current warming is caused by human activity including our greenhouse gas emissions.

The impacts of climate change on the health of children are likely to be many and varied, and may amplify the effects of other major threats to health, such as poverty, inadequate water, sanitation and hygiene, malnutrition and others.

Research on the effects of climate change in children's health in Australia and globally, and the management of health risks, will be important in mitigating the potential impacts.

The Kids Research Institute Australia is actively working to reduce its carbon footprint as outlined in our Statement of Commitment to the Environment  and has identified climate change research as an area for future exploration within our broad research agenda on the links between health and our environment.

The Kids Research Institute Australia Environmental Statement of Commitment

  • Create awareness and opportunities for environmentally-sustainable behaviour
  • Incorporate environmental considerations into Institute decision making
  • Conduct high quality research into the effects of our environment on health
