The Opportunity
This position provides the opportunity to work with Aboriginal Families in the south metropolitan area as part of a committed multidisciplinary urban ear health team under the cultural direction of the Aboriginal Community Advisory Group (ACAG).
The Role
In collaboration with the ear health team and the Aboriginal Community Advisory Group (ACAG) will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of the urban Aboriginal ear health research projects. Assist in providing cultural leadership and direction for the team
This role is Part Time (0.6 FTE) for a fixed term of 12 months. Estimated working days are Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.
Your Experience
Under Section 50 (D) of the Equal Opportunity Act we are seeking to employ Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander person with a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Health Training or equivalent training and experience working with Aboriginal families/communities.
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal health and wellbeing and the challenges facing Aboriginal people in accessing services and programs.
- Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal community engagement and developing relationships to ensure family involvement in research.
- Demonstrated experience in providing community-based Aboriginal programs.
- Sound written communication skills including report writing skills.
- Well-developed problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Basic computer and word processing skills
- Current “C” class drivers license and Working With Children Check (WWC)
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
