Aboriginal Research Assistant - Koorlungkas Yarning project

The Opportunity

Working with Speech Pathologists and members of the Koorlungkas Yarning project team to engage Aboriginal families. Be the liaison for Aboriginal families and provide cultural advice for the project team.

The Role

The role will involve working with Aboriginal families to promote and support a strengths-based approach to communication and language development and provide

  • Speech pathology research support
  • Point-of-contact / liaison for families, maintaining good relationships with participants and also liaising with relevant community organisations and agencies

This is a 0.2 FTE position, fixed term until November 2019. The role will be based in The Kids Research Institute Australia, Ear Health Office in Cockburn.

Your Experience

  • Qualifications in Early Childhood studies or similar demonstrated experience in that area
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working with parents and families
  • Demonstrate excellent team working skills as well as ability to work independently
  • High level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills and sound level of written communication skills
  • Good computer skills using Microsoft Office and word processing
  • Ability to travel within Perth Metropolitan area

Pursuant of Section 50(d) of the Equal Employment Opportunities Act 1984, the occupant of this position must be of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
