Clinical Lead – Autism Clinical Research Centre

The newly created centre will focus on infants and kids showing early signs of autism, other developmental delays or have a diagnosis of autism.

Led by Professor Andrew Whitehouse, the Autism Research Team, based at The Kids Research Institute Australia, are international research leaders in the understanding of autism. From early 2018, a newly created research clinical centre will be opened focusing on infants showing early developmental delays, in addition to children who have been diagnosed with autism. This creates an exciting and unique opportunity for a Senior Therapist to lead the clinical activities within this centre.

Working with the Centre Director, Professor Andrew Whitehouse, and the Clinical Services Manager, the Clinical Lead will lead and support the clinical team to provide high quality and timely early intervention services to infants up to pre-school children. The position will work closely with the research team to translate innovative evidence based therapies from research into clinical practice along with having the opportunity to develop new therapies and services that will be scientifically tested by the Autism Research Team. The position will also help manage and grow the clinical activities at the centre which are sustainable and meet consumer and community needs.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated senior clinical experience in either speech pathology, psychology or occupational therapy
  • Minimum two years' clinical experience providing clinical services to pre-school children with autism
  • A sound understanding of evidenced based approaches in developing and implementing early intervention programs with children with autism or developmental disabilities
  • A strong work ethic with a flexible, collaborative team approach
  • Essential Criteria
  • Tertiary qualifications in an Allied Health or equivalent discipline
  • Current membership with Professional Association    
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • National Police Clearance

This is a Full time role/Fixed term for 3 years with the possibility of extension. Remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.
