Manager, Grants Development

Leads a motivated team to provide strategic planning and coordination of resources to meet the Institute’s grant funding goals

The Manager Grants Development is responsible for a broad program of competitive research grants at the Institute. The role develops and supports an Institute-wide approach to increasing the number and success of competitive research funding proposals to achieve the objectives of the Institute's research development, revenue growth and diversification strategies.

This position provides a liaison with key stakeholders within the Institute and provides coordination and oversight of the grant development process to ensure the highest quality grant applications are developed at The Kids Research Institute Australia. A primary responsibility of this position is to provide the overall planning and coordination of resources to meet the expectations and obligations of the Institute and grant funding bodies.

The position works closely with members of the executive and the broader community in providing advice, support and leadership. This includes high level contribution to the development, management and support for key strategic initiatives identified by the Institute.

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated management experience to lead, integrate and inspire a team.
  • High level of achievement in research development management.
  • Implementation and management of a research and grants portfolio.
  • Experience managing grants, budget development and financial reporting.    
  • Grant writing expertise in addition to project and resource management experience.
  • Experience in identifying and creating external grant opportunities and partnerships that grow the research capacity of the Institute.
  • Ability to form close working relationships across the Institute and implement effective engagement strategies.
  • Raise awareness and understanding of external funding and partnership considerations across the Institute.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic advice to support the wider Institute Leadership team.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, effective negotiation and communication skills along with the ability to resolve difficult situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and liaison skills with demonstrated effective verbal and written communication.


This is a full time role for a fixed term of 3 years. Applicants must address their suitability for the role within the application.
