The Children's Diabetes Centre (CDC) at The Kids Research Institute Australia is seeking applications from enthusiastic and ambitious early-career researchers for the position of McCusker Research Fellow in Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)
The Role
This new position will provide advice and support to clinical and other researchers on relevant psychosocial tools and research design to ensure that all research conducted by the CDC has a mental health and wellbeing focus.
The position will also be responsible for identifying research projects consistent with the aims of the CDC and will also design and conduct research projects aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of children, adolescents and young people living with T1D and their families, including intervention studies.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- PhD in Psychology or related health field
- Evidence of a developing track record of publication output
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders across research and healthcare including clinicians, allied health professionals, families and young people
- Experience with research design e.g., developing a protocol, developing or adapting methods to answer specific research questions
- Ability to collect and analyse quantitative data, using statistical packages
- Experience with the preparation of presentations and manuscripts for publication, and ethics applications
- Ability to supervise and motivate research students and work independently using initiative
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to engage with, and build on, the existing research program and datasets, as well as develop their own research interests.

This is a full time position fixed term for 2 years. Remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.
The successful candidate will need to provide a current National Police Check and WWCC before commencement.
