Postdoc Molecular Biology

Major focus to establish functional assays for the validation of patient variant

We are looking for an experienced molecular biologist postdoc to join the Genetics and Rare Disease program led by Timo Lassmann. The major focus of this work is to establish functional assays for the validation of patient variants.
 
The applicant should have experience in routine molecular techniques and a good understanding of human genetics. Experience in working with induced pluripotent stem cells and CRISPR/Cas9 is a plus. The position represents an exciting opportunity to work at the crossroads between basic science and clinical practice. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to be part of a truly inter-disciplinary team composed of Molecular Biologists, Statisticians, Computational Biologists and Clinicians.
 
Responsibilities:
·    Development of functional assays to validate variants
·    CRISPR-Cas9 editing of iPSCs
·    Preparation of first author manuscripts
·    Training of junior scientists in experimental techniques
·    Contribution to grant applications and reporting
·    Fostering local and international collaborations
 
Requirements for the role:
·    A PhD in Genetics, Molecular or Cell Biology or related discipline and proven Experience in the field.
·    Cell culture experience is essential
·    Experience with re-programming and/or differentiating of iPSCs is a plus
·    Excellent communication skills
·    A minimum of two published papers
 
This is a full time position fixed term for 12 months with the possibility of extension. Salary range will be between $80,000 to $101,000 depending on experience. Remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.
 
The successful candidate will need to provide a current National Police check before commencement.
