The Opportunity
The Brain Tumour Research Program is a collaborative group composed of clinical and lab-based researchers focused on the goal of improving outcomes for children with brain tumours. Our research includes identifying mechanisms of cancer development, generation of appropriate models of these diseases, evaluation of novel therapeutics and translation of discoveries into the clinic. The Role
The successful candidate will lead a research project into childhood brain cancer in collaboration with a commercial partner. They will perform high quality research into childhood brain cancer with a specific focus on evaluating new agents for cancer therapy.
This is a full-time role fixed term for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Salary will be between $86,091 and 92,543 per annum, with access to generous salary packaging.
Experience
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:
- A PhD and strong track record in experimental cancer research
- International postdoctoral training
- Superior attention to detail and meticulous approach to experimental work
- Experience in animal models of disease including colony maintenance, performing injections, imaging and dissection;
- Expertise in cancer cell or stem cell culture
- Experience in histology, microscopy and high-level imaging
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, data recording and organisational skills
- Demonstrated scientific writing skills
- Initiative and ability to work both independently and as an effective team member;
- Experience in responsible laboratory management including ordering, maintenance of records, troubleshooting; experience in laboratory occupational health and safety.
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
