POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW – AUTISM RESEARCH

Opportunity to join the Autism Research Team as a Senior Research Officer

The Autism Research Team at The Kids Research Institute Australia is seeking applications from enthusiastic and ambitious early-career researchers for the position of postdoctoral research fellow. The successful applicant will contribute to the autism research program conducted at The Kids Research Institute Australia (Perth, Australia) on behalf of the Cooperative Research Centre for Living with Autism (Autism CRC). In collaboration with research groups around Australia and internationally, the research group uses a range of techniques (e.g. community consultation, EEG, eye-tracking, biological investigations) to develop new methods for identifying, assessing and diagnosing children with autism in early life, and trial early intervention techniques. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to engage with, and build on, the existing research program and datasets, as well as develop their own research interests related to autism.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and experienced early-career researcher who wants to make a real difference to the lives of children and adults on the autism spectrum.

Skills and Experience:

  • PhD or equivalent in area relevant to Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder research and related methodologies
  • Ability to administer psychometric assessments relevant to Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • High-level written and oral communication skills, including a track record in scientific publications and presentations.
  • Experience in the submission of grants and ethics applications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage research projects and meet deadlines
  • Capacity to supervise higher research degree students
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a broad, multidisciplinary team that spans several sites
  • Clinical experience in a paediatric setting
  • Ambition to become an independent researcher in the Autism Spectrum Disorder field
  • Database creation and management
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques
       

This is fixed term position for 12 months. The position can be Full time or Part time, open to negotiation. Remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.

The successful candidate will need to provide a current National Police Check and Working With Children’s Check before commencement.
