Program Manager of FASD Prevention

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career whilst being a part of developing important health promotion messages. This is a leadership and management role that will involve working with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community health organisations in Newcastle and Alice Springs to prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

This is a full-time role fixed term until 31 August 2020. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to travel to Newcastle and Alice Springs for up to a week at a time in each location. A generous salary between $101,000 to $112,000 per annum plus Superannuation is offered which includes access to salary packaging.

The Role

  • Stakeholder engagement: Work with community organisations and researchers to develop, implement and evaluate strategies for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) prevention in Newcastle and Alice Springs.
  • Management:  Oversee delivery of agreed outputs including development of health promotion messages and conduct of applied research, project budget expenditure, publications and reports.
  • Communication: Assist with and monitor communication strategies and outputs including website updates, across the Project sites: Perth, Newcastle and Alice Springs

Your Experience

The successful applicant will have the following skills/experience:

  • Academic writing skills to contribute to the preparation of grant and ethics application, research papers for publication, presentations, reports, articles and other documentation.
  • A demonstrated understanding of health research, in particular alcohol and other drugs to support development of FASD prevention strategies, materials, evaluation frameworks and databases and to oversee data management to ensure data integrity, quality assurance, and data analysis.
  • An understanding of and respect for Aboriginal culture and experience with Aboriginal communities to support consultation and communication across sites involving Aboriginal communities.
  • Experience with community and stakeholder engagement to support communication strategies across the sites and support translating the FASD Prevention research findings into practice and policy.

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and a Working With Children’s Check prior to commencement.
