Research Assistant - Children's Lung Health

The Opportunity

At The Kids Research Institute Australia, we are bringing together community, researchers, practitioners, policy makers and funders, to improve the health and well-being of children and young people.

The Children's Lung Health team at The Kids aims to improve lung health in children with asthma, neuromuscular disease, cystic fibrosis, following preterm birth and Aboriginal lung health.

The Role

We are seeking dynamic Research Assistants. Individuals will be involved in a research programs that include lung function testing, lung imaging, cohort recruitment, clinical trials and working in a supportive team environment with a focus on working with children and young people.

This role will suit individuals with a passion for improving children's health who are able to work independently and comfortable in dealing with families, children and young people. Opportunities exist for suitably qualified and motivated individuals to develop their skills in a world class research environment.

This full-time position is available for a fixed-term of 2 years, with the possibility of extension. Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience. Generous salary packaging is also available.

The Experience

To be eligible for these roles, individuals should have a Bachelor of Science (Anatomy and Physiology, Health, Biomedical) or equivalent. An Honours degree or similar would be highly desirable.

Your cover letter should specifically address your skills and experience in each of the following areas

  • Self-management and high personal motivation
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • ยท Depending on the role please provide a summary of your experience with lung function testing, clinical trials or working with diagnostic imaging techniques.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with families, children and young people of all ages.
  • Basic research skills including
    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Endnote referencing and editing and other relevant software tools.
    • Experience with academic database search strategies and literature review process.
    •  Writing skills, including capacity to summarize and communicate technical/clinical concepts in a clear and concise manner.

The successful candidate will need to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and a Working with Children Check before commencement.
