Research Assistant – Autism Research

This newly created position will provide a PhD graduate with the opportunity to join the Autism Research Team as a Research Assistant

Led by Professor Andrew Whitehouse, the Autism Research Team, based at The Kids Research Institute Australia, are international research leaders in the understanding of autism. The Autism Research Team aims to conduct research that improves the lives of children with autism and their families, by discovering new ways of identifying autism at a younger age, effective methods for reducing the disability associated with autism and influencing evidence based policy. We also aim to foster an autism community, where individuals and families living with autism, along with professionals, governments and researchers, can connect in a beneficial way at a local, national and international level.

The Research Assistant will contribute to the autism research program through assisting with a range of research tasks to support the development of new methods for identifying and diagnosing children with autism in early life, early intervention techniques and policy change.  

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and experienced individual who wants to make a real difference to the lives of children.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to administer psychometric assessments relevant to ASD
  • High-level written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals, develop priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a broad, multidisciplinary team that spans several sites
  • Experienced working with infants, children and families

 Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in area relevant to ASD
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current Working with Children Check

There is a fixed term role for 1 year, with the possibility of extension. Suitable applicants will be added to a recruitment pool for future Research Assistant vacancies. Applicants seeking employment on a part-time or full-time basis will be considered. Graduating students are eligible to apply. Remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.
