The Opportunity
The Oncogenic Signalling Laboratory is a collaborative group composed of clinical and lab-based researchers focused on the goal of improving outcomes for adults and children with brain tumours.
Our research includes identifying mechanisms of cancer development, generation of appropriate models of these diseases, evaluation of novel therapeutics and translation of discoveries into the clinic. We offer an interesting job in a very motivated and dynamic team with a friendly working atmosphere.
The Role
The successful candidate will work with the senior scientists in the Oncogenic Signalling Laboratory providing laboratory support to a range of projects designed to find new treatments for brain cancer. You will also need to assist with the ordering and running of the laboratory. Once established there will be the opportunity to conduct small research projects of their own.
This is a part time role fixed term for 12 months offering a salary between $67,151-$81,784 pro rata (dependant on skills and experience).
Your experience
- BSc (Hons) in a field relevant to cancer research
- Experience in a range of standard laboratory techniques, especially cell based assays
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, data recording and organisational skills
- Demonstrated scientific writing skills
- Initiative and ability to work both independently and as an effective team member;
- Experience in responsible laboratory management including ordering, maintenance of records and troubleshooting;
- Experience in laboratory occupational health and safety.
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
