Research Assistant Child Health, Development and Education

research assistant adelaide child health development education

Location: Adelaide, SA

The Child Health, Development and Education team based in Adelaide has an opening for two full time Research Assistants to join the Language in Little Ones (LiLO) study.

The amount of language stimulation from parent to child could be the key driver behind intergenerational inequality. Children learn language through social interaction and this study will significantly enhance our current understanding of exposure to language in the child’s home environment. The Language in Little Ones (LiLO) study will demonstrate how inequalities in the early years have far reaching consequences for later health and development.

The Role

This position will support the LiLO Study by:

  • Recruiting study participants
  • Driving to study participants’ residences to administer tests and collect data
  • Interacting effectively with young children and parents to encourage continued participation
  • Entering and storing data accurately and in a timely manner

Role will involve visiting family homes across metro and outer-metro Adelaide.

Your experience:

  • An undergraduate qualification in psychology, public health, allied health profession, nursing or a related degree.
  • Experience working with families with young children.
  • Current drivers licence and use of a privately owned, roadworthy vehicle for work-related travel.
  • The ideal candidate will be organised, positive, reliable, hard-working, have good attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and can work independently.

We have two positions available, both positions are fixed term, full time for 6 months. One will commence mid-April and the other early June.  Salary will be $60,361 per annum with access to generous salary packaging.

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
