The Opportunity:
The Ear Health Team are currently working on developing innovative ear and hearing health and telehealth programs for children in WA and building on an established cohort of early surveillance of Aboriginal ear health.
Several part-time positions (0.2 – 0.8 FTE) in the Ear Health Team are available in metropolitan Perth (Cockburn and PCH, Nedlands) and in Kalgoorlie. The primary purpose of these roles is to support the work of the Ear Health Team in developing and evaluating the Ear Portal telehealth program to provide ear and hearing assessments for Aboriginal families.
The Role:
As a Research Assistant you will be responsible for:
- Conducting ear and hearing health checks for study participation
- Documenting study procedures
- Collection of data according to protocol
- Ensuring up to date and accurate study related documentation
- Database development and data management including primary analyses
- Effective written and verbal communication with stakeholders
- Report writing
- Supporting other projects under the Ear Health Program as required
- General administrative duties
Experience:
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Degree or Diploma in Health Science, Nursing, Public Health, Audiology or similar
- Experience in Aboriginal child health
- Demonstrated empathy and respect for Aboriginal culture
- Involvement in Health Research projects including study design, data collection and data management
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience with Ethics application process
- High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge and interest in ear health
- High level of computer literacy – excel and electronic data capture
- Ability to travel within WA
- WA driver’s licence
- Experience in a health-related or health promotion role
The successful applicants will receive training in conducting ear and hearing assessment and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, led by local Aboriginal researchers, to enable specialists at Perth Children's Hospital to remotely assess and manage patients with ear and hearing disorders.
