Research Assistant, The ORIGINS Project

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the ORIGINS Project playing a key role in recruiting participants and collecting data for the Project.

Based at the Joondalup Health Campus, the ORIGINS Project is a major longitudinal birth cohort study being conducted over 10 years by The Kids Research Institute Australia at the Joondalup Health Campus. The aim of ORIGINS is to build a research platform to enable world class investigations into when and why non-communicable diseases (NCDs) develop, through the study of early environments, maternal and paternal physical health, the microbiome and genetics.

The Role

This position will contribute to the day to day running of the ORIGINS Project, along with a team of other Research Assistants. This position will support the collection of quality research data, including specimens, as part of the Project.

This is a full-time position for a fixed term of 12 months with the possibility of extension.

Your Experience

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

• Year 12 or above (relevant tertiary degree)

• Equivalent experience to a relevant tertiary degree

• High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

• High personal motivation and ability to work independently.

• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, data management and analysis programs.

• Attention to detail.

• Demonstrate excellent team working skills as well as ability to work using own initiative.

• Time management skills/ability to prioritise workload.

• Possession of a current WA drivers licence and your own transportation.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and Project participants so must possess strong communication skills. Above all, you must be committed to improving child health for the future.

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a Working with Children’s Check and a satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
