The Opportunity
The Kids Research Institute Australias Cancer Immunology group is focused on harnessing the power of the immune system to eradicate primary and advanced cancer, particularly immune-based therapies targeting the activity of helper and killer T cells. One key project focuses on initiating de novo anti-tumour T cell responses through vaccination. Another project focuses on training immune cells to target and eliminate cancer. Remarkable advances have been made with these approaches over the past decade. However, these therapies are not universally successful. We are developing novel and innovative strategies to deliver improved cancer vaccines and cellular products.
The Role

We are seeking highly motivated, ambitious and skilled individuals to be part of an energetic and interdisciplinary research team. The dynamic working environment requires candidates to have strong analytical and conceptualisation skills and to work productively in a team setting. Applicants must have solid experience in tissue culture, in vivo techniques, flow cytometry, and molecular biology. Demonstrated skills in oncology models, histology, and luminescence-based in vivo imaging would be advantageous.
These are fixed-term positions for 12 months.
Your Experience
Successful candidates will have the following skills/qualifications:
• BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or equivalent, or PhD degree in immunology.
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Demonstrated experience in small rodent models, including drug administration and blood collection, as well as in vivo assay implementation and sample collection
• Demonstrated experience in mammalian tissue culture techniques
• Demonstrated knowledge of research methodologies
• Confidence to work independently
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and a demanding schedule
• Superior interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good computer literacy (Apple and PC, Microsoft Office)
Successful candidates will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
