Welcome Crew Member

The Role

Our helpful part time Welcome Crew deliver first class services to our visitors using a range of different technologies in line our vision and values. As the face of The Kids Research Institute Australia, this role requires friendly, responsive, confident professionals to deliver outstanding visitor experiences via a range of interactions including in-person, via phone and online.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Providing outstanding customer service and professionalism at all times 
  • Meet specific visitor needs, thereby enhancing access and encouraging return visits, especially for children with special needs
  • Answering queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Providing and maintaining accurate information about The Kids Research Institute Australia and the Discovery Centre
  • Providing operational support on conference and evening events ensuring excellent front of house assistance
  • Supporting the health and safety of visitors to the Discovery Centre by ensuring a clean environment 
  • Liaising with campus and external partners to promote use of the Discovery Centre
  • Operating the The Kids switchboard and directing calls appropriately
  • Opening/closing of the Discovery Centre in accordance with security and safety procedures
  • Providing general administrative support
  • Assisting with other tasks as required

We have more than one position available for a fixed term of 6 months. The FTE will be dependant on the successful candidates.

Some evening and weekend work may be required.

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement.

The Experience

  • Outstanding customer service skills, including strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and ability to relate to a diverse range of people
  • Great time-management skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication skills and telephone manner
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent presentation
  • Not afraid of technology with intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suite (notably Excel)
  • Experience working with children, particularly with special needs (desirable)
