School pilot study

Are you 12 or 13 years of age? We need your help to test a new sun health app

This study has now finished recruitment.

You are invited to participate in the Promoting Safe Sun Behaviours in Teenagers Project. We have developed an online tool which aims to help teenagers make balanced and healthy decisions around their behaviours when spending time outside, in the sun. This online tool has been designed with the input of young teenaged co-researchers, and contain information relevant to teenagers around safe sun behaviours.

Who can be involved?

  • We are looking for young people (12-13 years of age) to participate in this research.
  • You will need access to an iphone or ipad, and the internet at home.
  • You will need your parent’s permission to participate.

What does participation involve?

  • Download and use our app for 10 weeks (dates to be confirmed)
  • Answer 20-minute multiple-choice tests (at the beginning and end of the study)
  • Answer questionnaires on your sun exposure patterns, skin type and sun sensitivity
  • Wear a badge to measure your sun exposure
  • Answer a survey at the end of the study to give feedback about the app
