Cynthia is a software developer with a strong interest in web development, application design, and backend systems. She enjoys building efficient, scalable, and user-friendly applications and is always eager to explore new technologies in the field of software engineering.
In 2024, Cynthia worked with Melissa and the Global Disease Modelling team as an intern through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship program (UWA) and developed a chatbot that supports the utilisation and further development of OpenMalaria, an open-source mathematical model to study the impact of treatments and interventions that control, limit or prevent the spread and severity of malaria, a mosquito-borne disease.
In her current role as a casual research assistant, Cynthia will enhance and refine the features of this OpenMalaria chatbot and tailor its use to OpenMalaria users within and beyond The Kids.
Cynthia is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Information Technology at the University of Western Australia (UWA), and holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science (China) and a Master’s of Science (Derby, UK).
Outside of work, Cynthia enjoys video gaming, reading novels, and working on interesting programming projects.
