Child Health Seminar: Build It and They Will Play!

Free public seminar - we will be discussing how neighbourhoods provide opportunities (or barriers) for kids' play, physical activity, health and development.

Presented in partnership with Centre for the Built Environment and Health, The University of Western Australia

We will be discussing how neighbourhoods provide opportunities (or barriers) for kids' play, physical activity, health and development.

The physical design and characteristics of the neighbourhood environment influence a range of social and health outcomes.

The urban environment influences the way in which we raise our children and provide for their future health. We can better support children's health and well-being by creating more 'liveable', compact, pedestrian-friendly, less car dependent and more socially inclusive cities.

Winthrop Professor Donna Cross will MC the evening as you hear from national experts about the latest built environment and child health research:

  • Assistant Professor Hayley Christian, The Kids Research Institute Australia and Centre for the Built Environment and Health, The University of Western Australia
  • Professor Stewart Trost, Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University of Technology
  • Adj A/Prof Geoff Woolcock, Qld Convenor, Australian Research Alliance for Children & Youth (ARACY)
