Medibank funding for new maternity study

The Kids Research Institute Australia researcher Dr Kim Clark has been awarded funding of almost $50,000 from a new health research fund launched by Medibank

Telethon Kids Institute researcher Dr Kim Clark has been awarded funding of almost $50,000 from a new health research fund launched by Medibank.

The Medibank Health Research Fund will receive $400,000 a year from Medibank, with the group also matching all employee donations to the fund dollar-for-dollar. It will focus on supporting the treatment and prevention of serious health conditions that affect an increasing number of Australians.

This year the fund will support nine research projects, including Dr Clark's work to develop and pilot a survey tool that will monitor women's perspectives of public maternity services.

The ultimate aim of Dr Clark's research is to evaluate patient satisfaction and identify ways to optimise the relationship between providers and their patients - which should increase maternity care satisfaction and improve the health of mothers and their newborn children.
