Fiona Stanley: Honorary Life Membership

We are honoured to bestow upon Fiona an Honorary Life Membership of this Institute as a reflection of our great respect, love and thanks.

Fiona's public contributions as a child health champion and advocate for families and children are well documented - Australian of the Year in 2003,  UNICEF Australia Ambassador for Early Childhood, National Living Treasure, the ABC Board,  long serving member of the Prime Ministers Science Engineer and innovation Council, and  so many other committees and Boards.

Indeed she is now more than Fiona Stanley the individual - the State's largest tertiary hospital is named in her honour.

She has received honorary doctorates and accolades from some of the most prestigious groups in the world.

As the founding Director of this Institute, she gave it her heart and soul and phenomenal energy, gathering a team of fellow minded researchers who were out to change the world for kids.

We know that there is still much more to come from Fiona in her public life. But she will always be the foundation on which this Institute was built.

The values and culture that Fiona instilled endure today and we hope, into perpetuity.

As a symbol of this, we are delighted to announce a perpetual scholarship in Fiona's honour - an award for a rising-star early or mid career researcher that can be used to  build international collaborations. We know how passionate Fiona is about giving opportunities to the next generation of researchers, and how important it is for them to be seen on the global stage and to develop links around the world.

We are honoured to bestow upon Fiona an Honorary Life Membership of this Institute as a reflection of our great respect, love and thanks.
