Four The Kids Research Institute Australia researchers are among those who have received funding in the WA State Government's Merit Award Program announced today.

Health Minister John Day announced $1.35 million in funding under the FutureHealth WA initiative to help promising Western Australian researchers who narrowly missed out on National Health and Medical Research Council funding.

Dr Sally Brinkman, Dr Lyn Colvin, Dr Hannah Moore all received Project Merit Awards, while Dr Rishi Kotecha received a Fellowship Merit Award.

The Kids Research Institute Australia Director Professor Jonathan Carapetis thanked the State Government for its support and congratulated those who were awarded grants.

"Many outstanding early and mid-career researchers just missed out on national funding this year and we are extremely grateful that the FutureHealth program will enable some of those researchers to continue their work while they work towards successful grant applications next year," Professor Carapetis said.
