Seven leading The Kids Research Institute Australia researchers have been awarded Fellowships from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
The NHMRC Fellowships, which are awarded once a year, were announced today by the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
The successful The Kids Research Institute Australia fellowship recipients for 2017 are as follows:
NHMRC Early Career Fellowships:
- Tim Rosenow: Structural and Functional Imaging in Paediatric Respiratory Disease
- Rachel Foong: Examining the early origins of asthma and chronic respiratory disease
- Chris Brennan-Jones: Tackling chronic otitis media and its impact on children: evidence and action
- Luke Garratt: The Importance of Neutrophil Plasticity in Early Cystic Fibrosis Lung Disease
- Rishi Kotecha: Combinatorial therapeutics in high-risk infant acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
NHMRC Career Development Fellowships:
- Ashleigh Lin: Improving the mental health outcomes of Australian young people
- Debbie Palmer: Nutritional strategies for allergy prevention
The Kids Research Institute Australia Director Professor Jonathan Carapetis said the Institute was pleased that these outstanding researchers have been recognised at a national level.
“This is fantastic news for our researchers and will enable them to continue the incredibly important work they do to improve the lives of kids,” Professor Carapetis said.
“Their success in this highly competitive process really highlights the quality of research being done here at The Kids Research Institute Australia.”
