Abstract:
The current report is an updated version of a technical report that we published in February 2013.
Gregory, T., & Brinkman, S. (2013). Methodological approach to exploring change in the Australian Early Development Index (AEDI): The estimation of a critical differences. Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, Western Australia.
We have extended the previous work by calculating a critical difference for the percentage of children who are “at risk” and “on track” in addition to the children who are developmentally “vulnerable”. In this report, we use the term Early Development Instrument (EDI) to refer to the child development instrument, and the term Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) to refer to the programme of work to conduct a national census of child development once every three years.
