Honey as a potential topical treatment for skin infections: a literature review

Investigators: Asha Bowen, Glenn Pearson, Kim Isaacs, Kristen White, Marianne Mullane

The role of honey for the treatment of skin infections and wound healing has primarily come from personal stories of its effectiveness however these personalised studies have not been researched in the Kimberley region. The platforms for testing honey to determine antimicrobial properties have been developed and may provide an opportunity for progressing our knowledge regarding honey from floral sources in the Kimberley. This literature review presents the initial background information to determine whether this can be pursued further.
