Project description
Self-regulatory difficulties in infants (difficulty soothing and sleeping) tells us that the infant may be at risk of developing a range of physical and mental health difficulties in later life. Self-regulatory difficulties create stress and confusion in families, who may struggle to calm their child and engage with them in a positive way. In this project we want to gain insight into these difficulties and understand how we might prevent them from pregnancy onward. Together, we believe this will help us find new ways of protecting neonatal and infant mental health and optimising developmental trajectories from the earliest possible point.
