Healthy Skin Books

Kaal is a proud Noongar boy, he loves playing football, but this season Kaal is about to tackle a new and unexpected challenge… eczema.

Kaal is a proud Noongar boy, he loves playing football, but this season Kaal is about to tackle a new and unexpected challenge… eczema.

Targeted at children aged 4-8 years, this rhyming storybook incorporates Noongar language, and contains full colour illustrations by Noongar illustrator, Tyrown Wagaina. Through the voice of the child protagonist, Kaal (the Noongar word for fire), children are encouraged to speak to an adult about their skin, with parents reminded to seek medical advice. It focuses on courage, resilience, and strong families.

Developed as part of the Koolungar Moorditj Healthy Skin project, Kaal Tackles Eczema is the first storybook that will form part of a forthcoming community led storybook series that follows characters on their journey towards healthy skin and overall health and wellbeing.
