Discover . Prevent . Cure .

Lung function in a model of a paediatric metabolic disease

Investigators: Alexander Larcombe, Emily Chivers

Project description

Lysosomes are structures within the cells of the body with the job of breaking down and removing unwanted materials. In some cases, lysosomes do not function properly, resulting in the build-up of un-wanted materials in cells, leading to severe disease. Lung disease often results when lysosomes do not function properly, however it is unknown how this occurs, or what we can do to prevent it.
