Project description

This project aims to better understand the early genetic and environmental factors that the developing brain during a child’s first five years of life. Partnering with the ORIGINS project – a program that aims to follow 5000 West Australian children and their families beginning in pregnancy – we will achieve three primary goals. First, we will explore the types of neurodevelopmental ‘patterns’ that children experience during their first five years of life. Second, we will identify the genetic and environmental factors that are linked to these patterns. Finally, we hope to link these neurodevelopmental patterns to outcomes in later childhood, including brain development, mental health, and wellbeing.
