Project description
Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) is the most common infectious cause of death in childhood in developed countries. This study will provide comprehensive data on the clinical, physical, neurocognitive, social and economic burden from IMD in Australian adolescents and young adults. The study findings will inform policy on the decision to include these vaccines in immunization programs.
The aim of this study is to assess the clinical, physical, neurocognitive, economic and societal impact on families from serogroup B IMD in Australian adolescents and young adults. Other objectives include to assess the quality of life for adolescent and young adult survivors of serogroup B IMD and the impact on their families and to estimate the lifetime costs associated with survival following serogroup B IMD.
