A national program to boost energetic play in early childhood education and care
Energetic play is fun, healthy and good for children’s development. Children need energetic ‘huff and puff’ play lots of times every day.
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) services play an important role in encouraging young children to be physically active, healthy and developing well.
Our Play Active program has been designed to help ECEC services increase the amount of energetic play children do every day in a safe and supported environment.
Backed by research and co-created with educators in WA working directly with children, Play Active is the only program of its kind in Australia that provides clear guidelines for ECEC centres to ensure all children are getting enough energetic play throughout the day, every day.
The program provides professional development, resources and support that will help services exceed National Quality Standard 2.1: ‘Each child’s health and physical activity is supported and promoted’
