The development and refinement of a sensitive bedside test to continually measure the severity of BPD and lung development in preterm infants

Investigators: Graham Hall, Jane Pillow, Shannon Simpson

This project is a sub-study of the PIFCO study. Our team is testing the use of a simple and non-invasive bedside test to determine the severity of chronic breathing disorder in premature infants.

The test is being used nationally by the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network to standardise the reporting of severity of breathing disease in preterm infants. The simple bedside test is also being used in clinical trials to measure how new treatments improve lung development.
